Welcome!
PT: Play Time - where parents, teachers, and physical therapists come to find and share ideas about how to play!
Play is a critical part of “growing up.” At all ages and stages of growth and
development, we as humans are learning and growing through play. An infant learns about textures, shapes and
colors (just to name a few things) by playing with baby rings; adults continue
to learn and grow physically, socially and intellectually when they “play” at the
gym or have a fun night with friends.
Play is so important that even Fisher-Price, a beloved toy maker, has an
article about the importance of play.
This blog is a place where parents, teachers, physical
therapist – ANYONE! – can find information about how to play. PT: Play Time’s goal is to provide
research-based ideas about gross motor development, sensory development, and
general pediatric growth. We will
discuss options for playing indoors/outdoors, at school and in the classroom, and
in therapy.
Please feel free to bring your own issues and concerns to
the discussions – you are not the only person with your questions or concerns!
Excited to read and share along with you, Anna! So often in primary care, we call kiddos to get their bodies in motion with PLAY. It's nice to have an evidence-based site for reference!
